Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD will provide a one-of-a-kind customer experience for all passengers and guests at Varna Airport and Burgas Airport through new innovative retail, relaxation, and recreation areas through its latest and environmentally sustainable Gate Garden concept, in cooperation with its commercial partners. It includes the construction and design of exceptional open terraced green spaces, characterized by an extremely low carbon footprint, natural ventilation, and sunlight that are unique for Europe. A distinctive feature that makes the newly designed spaces unique is the possibility for passengers to be taken to the aircraft directly through the gates in the area, allowing guests to benefit from the “open air terminal” concept for as long as possible. This architectural concept results in carbon emissions savings related to both the construction and operation of the facilities, compared to conventional airport terminal solutions to date. The investment is part of the company's commitment to developing and transforming Varna Airport and Burgas Airport into modern and attractive locations for airlines and passengers, in order to continue the further increase in year-round traffic and connectivity of the two airports.

The construction of the facilities at Varna Airport and Burgas Airport for Season 2025 is of key importance for Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD. They will not only result to an increase in the quality of passenger service, but will also provide the necessary flexibility for the operation of the terminal infrastructure in the Schengen regime, providing more shopping opportunities through the increased retail areas, located among living vegetation and natural light. The geographical location of the terraces is also of key importance, as it will contribute to an even more pleasant and exciting experience with a central view of the runway with taking off and landing aircrafts.

The Gate Garden concept has already been internationally presented at one of the largest and most prestigious international aviation events - Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference, which took place in Frankfurt, Germany. There, the design and concept of the project received a standing ovation and was one of the highlights of the entire forum.
