Photo Contest at Varna Airport Encourages All Spotters to Take Part
Varna Airport announces a contest for the best photo taken from a specific location by August 31st. The location – north latitude: 43 ° 13'40.45 " and eastern longitude: 027 ° 48'13.66" – offers a great look at the planes that are landing and taking off.
It is well known that the number of aircraft at Varna Airport increases significantly in the summer, and this year the busiest day will be August 30th when 109 aircraft movements are expected. This is why Fraport Bulgaria is launching a contest called Summer Aviation Eye and is asking photographers to send their works by August 31 to ftspr@fraport-bulgaria.com.
The photos will be posted on Varna Airport's Facebook page in September and the winners will be determined by the page’s fans and followers: The photos that collect the most likes and reactions will be rewarded. The first prize will be a voucher in the amount of BGN 500, the second for BGN 300, and the third a voucher for BGN 100. A contestant won’t be able to take more than one prize, meaning that if a contestant has photographs placed in first and second place, he or she would receive only the first prize and the second would be awarded to the next person in the ranking.
Only JPEG files will be accepted, with a recommended size 2000 x 3000 pixels and a maximum file size 2MB. Files can be submitted only through the specified email address and each participant may apply with up to three photos (one to three, based on the participant’s preferences).
Only original photographs taken from the specified spot are allowed to take part in the contest. The photos must not contain names, pseudonyms or other inscriptions identifying their author. Also, the photos should have aesthetic value and match the topic of the contest. The contest's organizers reserve the right to remove, at their discretion, all photographs that violate ethical norms, current legislation, or in any way impair the contest’s reputation and the image of Fraport Bulgaria.
The organizers also reserve the right to supplement or change the rules of the contest, and the changes will take effect immediately once they are announced on Varna Airport's Facebook page and on the website of Fraport Bulgaria. By participating in the contest, each participant declares that he or she is aware of the rules and agrees to comply with them.
Certain photographs may be selected by Fraport Bulgaria's board of directors to take part in an exhibition in the fall. "We would like to organize an event to meet the city’s spotters. We know from our social-media pages that the people who like to photograph airplanes would like the airport to be friendlier to them – as they themselves have previously stated – and this is a step we take to make it happen,” said the director of Varna Airport Dimitar Kostadinov.
All people may participate in the contest regardless of their age, nationality and photographic skills. Participants in the contest grant the organizers the right to publish the submitted works for promotional purposes as well as for advertising and PR needs without limitations. Printed copies from the final exhibition will remain property of the organizers.
